"When Bill Orcutt is stuck in a moment of dual guitar abuse and adoration, he lets out a great, wordless blues moan, not dissimilar from the yawps Keith Jarrett so famously uses during his piano solos. You can hear it near the start of “John Fahey Commemorative Beer Can”, in the moment of stillness that lingers just before Orcutt begins to maul his strings. True, Orcutt makes his acoustic roar, but he also wrings melodies from its din, crumpling the tin can of sad nostalgia while acknowledging that what’s inside was pretty good, after all."
